A Couple of Cocktails – Ideal for Valentine’s
This year you’ll probably be celebrating Valentine’s Day a little differently. Many of our favourite Restaurants are now able to deliver plus there are so many creative and clever new ways to indulge at home. We thought we would help out with a pair of cocktail recipes that you can make at home for an extra special tipple on the day! Could be his and hers or maybe you both fancy the same one!
THE KING OLD HENRY
A traditional gentleman’s drink based on the classic recipe of an Old Fashioned but with a Sopwell twist.
Orange peel (2 pieces)
Brown sugar cube
Orange Bitters (a couple of dashes of)
40ml Grand Marnier
25ml Monkey Shoulder Whiskey
In a mixing glass, add the sugar cube and wet it with 2 dashes of orange bitters. Add the orange and lemon peel to the glass. Muddle together until the sugar is broken. Add the Grand Marnier and Monkey Shoulder Whiskey and a hefty amount of ice, stir together with a long spoon until the sugar has dissolved fully. Strain the drink into a rocks glass over your desired amount of ice. Garnish with a bit of orange or orange peel.
A tasty combination of a G&T and a mojito!
4 thin cucumber wheels
10 mint leaves
3 lime wedges
15ml Sugar syrup (or a teaspoon of sugar)
Soda or Tonic
Cubed & Crushed ice (if not crushed, just cubed)
In a slim jim glass place (in this order) around 8 mint leaves, 3 cucumber wheels and 3 lime wedges, add the sugar syrup and muddle together but keep in mind not to tear apart the mint leaves at the bottom. Pour in the Hendricks, stir with a long spoon and then fill up to about half way with cubed ice and soda/tonic, leaving an inch at the top of the glass. Give it all a good stir without moving the fruit to the top. Give it a taste to see if you need more sugar or lime, once satisfied, top up with crushed ice if you have it and garnish with the remaining mint leaves and cucumber wheel.
Enjoy! Post your creations on social media and tag us, we would love to see.
